Paper Towns

I just began reading Paper Towns by John Green. I actually have seen the preview to the movie, but I figured I read the book and then see the movie. So that I can be one of those  people that compare the book to the movie and say " the book is better, they should've shown this part, or they didn't include this. " I hope I like this book so that I can stick to the author and read all of his books.

So far the protagonist starts by introducing his friend Margo, which by the way is a girl. He describes this one time when they were nine and found a dead body on the floor. I really have nothing else interesting to write about so far but I will predict that he will fall in love with Margo. I also predict that they will go to prom together since his parents are always asking him who he plans on taking and his response is always how " he doesn't believe in prom." To me that's very strange because one of the main things I'm looking forward to during my senior year is prom.

a) When I found out that Troy had gotten Alberta pregnant I felt devastated. I had given him 18 years of my life to get betrayed. I don't think it's fair to share so much with someone and then get taken advantage of. I think if Troy needed more or was getting tired of me, he should told me and let me know what was on his mind. I felt in the beginning that things weren't what I thought they would be with Troy but that doesn't mean I would do him wrong and go sleep around with someone else because of my problems at home. I also don't think Troy shouldn't stop Cory from perusing his dream of playing football. I think it'll benefit him to get a scholarship and help us with affording his college tuition. I think that just because Troy went through some things he shouldn't come between Cory and his ambition.

b) I don't think my father Troy should have a say in what is best for me. I think that it is important to look out for your son, but I also want to take responsibility for everything I choose to do in my life. I wish he wasn't so hard on me when it came to me wanting to play football. I need it to get into a good college with a full scholarship. I want to take this opportunity and not have my parents stress about paying for my education.

  1. I'm the same way! I refuse to see the movie before I read the book.
